Easter Fun 2012 - Well, Some of It...

Just a little note before you get started reading - I've been trying to put this post together since Monday...I'm not one to complain - especially on my blog...but between internet issues, a sick boy, and everything else that just has to be done...I'm just getting around to finalizing the post...and it's Thursday.   Oops.

So...again, forgive me that my Easter recap didn't come earlier this week.  It's not for lack of trying!!  : )
I have sooooo much to share!  So many pictures...so many details...I'm going to have to break our Easter weekend into a few posts actually...I know, you love it!!
Saturday, the kids and I met up with my bestie, Robyn, and her little family (Brandon, Cooper & Daphne) for an Easter Egg Hunt.  The hunt was at a K of C Hall in a nearby town.  The small town was so quaint.  There was an absolutely beautiful church there, with an awesome cemetary nearby that I'd like to go back to someday to take pictures of...it was very striking.  We were running a little behind this morning, so the only pictures of this egg hunt are from my iPhone...

Tell me that's not beautiful??

Ready for the hunt!

Brandon & Daphne
Score! - GT found a PrIzE Egg!!
Our buddy, Cooper
After the egg hunt at the K of C Hall, we returned to our houses with plans to meet up at together at carnival/Egg Hunt being put on by a local church in the afternoon...by the time we were going to meet, Vadyn and Daphne had both fallen asleep, so the dad's (Gordon & Brandon) stayed home with the sleeping babies, while Robyn & I took the boys to the carnival.  There were sooooo many people at the carnival.  I am really glad that the girls weren't with us.  It would have been so hard to have to hold Vadyn while trying to keep track of GT.  I am not a fan of crowds.  I was freaking.  (Could you tell, Robyn?)  I've decided that next year, I'm going to put on a little carnival/egg hunt/spring time fun for our friends/families kids the Saturday before Easter at our house.  That way, we won't have to fight the crowd - and we'll have a lot more fun, anyway!!! (If I do say so myself.)

I promise the sun was shining that day...
(...at least it was at my house...)

Cooper & GT - good buddies  :-)
We went to church Saturday evening, since we knew that Sunday was going to be filled with the trip that we had planned to Illinois for Easter...

Vadyn ready for church
Saturday night, after Vadyn went to sleep is when I broke loose with all of my actual Easter day prep...I know...I know...procrastinator, right here...although thinking about it now, I don't know if I would have started any sooner, because things ended up working out great...even if I was up until 3 a.m....
First up, Resurrection Rolls
The marshmallow represents Jesus' body being placed in the tomb

Such a great helper!!

The marshmallow disappeared!!  Just like Jesus' body was gone Easter morning...

GT was too freaked out to eat it.

Then it was time to dye Eggs!!

Look who joined in the fun!!

The finished product
Before going to bed Saturday night, GT put out the empty baskets for the Easter Bunny...

...and then on Easter morning, the kids woke up to them filled with surprises!!!

Look Mom!  A Ring Pop...and marshmallow CUPCAKES!!
After discovering what was in their baskets, the kids headed outside for our very first Easter Egg Hunt at our house...

After we wrapped up the Easter Egg Hunt and got our "stuff" together, we headed over to Illinois to spend the day with my mom's side of our family.  My Aunt Susie hosted Easter, as well as a Confirmation party for my youngest cousin, Alan.  Since there are sooooo many pictures - I'll be posting about that another day!!  I'm sure you are all ready to check out by now...

....but I did want to share a few of my favorite shots from our afternoon...

Uh....

Weekend Wrap Up...and Happy Birthday, Honey!

I don't know about you all......but......I had an INCREDIBLE WEEKEND!!!

Here are the pictures to prove it!!

Saturday, we met my mom in Chesterfield for lunch at Chik-Fil-A and then we went to Faust Park (where the highlight of my afternoon was Vadyn WEARING her sunhat) to play.  That evening, our good friends, The Shrums treated us to a DELICIOUS dinner.  We enjoyed each other's company, the kids played and we spent some time around the fire pit - unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of this part of our weekend (Robyn - remind me to do a better job of documenting our hangouts) - this was the beginning of our celebrating for my husband, Gordon's birthday, which was yesterday!!

You read that right...Automatic handwasher & dryer...
'cause washing your hands can be sooooo laborious...
GT invited himself to play "soccer ball" with some strangers...
I'm glad they didn't mind...LOL
As I was saying...

Darth Vader was at the playground!!!
We ended our visit at Faust Park with a lovely stroll through Faust Historic Village.  Faust Park is also home to The Butterfly House and an old fashioned Carousel, but we didn't have time for all of that today.  While we were on our walk, my mom took my camera and turned it around on me for a few shots with the kiddos.  Yeah!!!  Too many times I am on the other side of the lens....I need to find myself in a few more pictures...
I love this picture of Vadyn...
(Thanks, Mom!!)

(this one too!!!)

ok...and this one....

Sunday, GT & I headed off to try out a new church with my friend, Robyn & her son, Cooper.  Element Church is in Wentzville, MO.  It is a growing church - they are in the process of building a new auditorium for services.  Robyn and I, along with the rest of the people in service with us, were invited to see the building site in progress.  We wrote the names of people on the cards that we would like to see come closer to Christ and then the cards will be prayed over and then placed underneath the foundation, which is going to be poured this week....so.... those "people" who's names are on the cards, will be what the foundation of the church is built on.  Does this make sense, because Robyn & I both thought it was a SUPER COOL idea.  Cool enough, I whipped out my camera.

I loved this idea!!!...and feel blessed to have been a part!

When we got home on Sunday, it was time to do yard work!!
Elvis didn't help....in case you were wondering...
Check out Vadyn -
Reach for the stars!!!!

My neighbors Bleeding Heart plant that I LOVE!!!

GT being goofy...

Can you guess who is taking this picture???
After a hard day working in the yard, it was time for Gordon's birthday dinner with his Mom & Dr. Jer.  We met back at "our" Mexican restaurant, El Azteca and had THE BEST TIME.  The food there is sooo great.  I couldn't get my hands on one of these fast enough:

Oh look!  The birthday boy is having one, too!!!

Gordon reading one of his "notes", as GT call them.  <3

That's right...a ukelele!!!
(Yes, my husband does serenade me)
Not just any kite...a Darth Vader kite!!!
...and then the waiter brought out Gordon's "birthday present" from El Azteca.  It was a shot of tequila.  We are not drinkers...so this was quite a shock to us...check out Gordon's reaction...blurry pictures and all!!!

I wanted a picture with the birthday boy...

...and then we attempted a family photo.  Notice I used the word ATTEMPTED.

All in all, it was a very fun filled weekend.  We got a lot accomplished, including finding a new church home!!  Life is sooooo good.
