Easter Fun 2012 - Well, Some of It...

Just a little note before you get started reading - I've been trying to put this post together since Monday...I'm not one to complain - especially on my blog...but between internet issues, a sick boy, and everything else that just has to be done...I'm just getting around to finalizing the post...and it's Thursday.   Oops.

So...again, forgive me that my Easter recap didn't come earlier this week.  It's not for lack of trying!!  : )
I have sooooo much to share!  So many pictures...so many details...I'm going to have to break our Easter weekend into a few posts actually...I know, you love it!!
Saturday, the kids and I met up with my bestie, Robyn, and her little family (Brandon, Cooper & Daphne) for an Easter Egg Hunt.  The hunt was at a K of C Hall in a nearby town.  The small town was so quaint.  There was an absolutely beautiful church there, with an awesome cemetary nearby that I'd like to go back to someday to take pictures of...it was very striking.  We were running a little behind this morning, so the only pictures of this egg hunt are from my iPhone...

Tell me that's not beautiful??

Ready for the hunt!

Brandon & Daphne
Score! - GT found a PrIzE Egg!!
Our buddy, Cooper
After the egg hunt at the K of C Hall, we returned to our houses with plans to meet up at together at carnival/Egg Hunt being put on by a local church in the afternoon...by the time we were going to meet, Vadyn and Daphne had both fallen asleep, so the dad's (Gordon & Brandon) stayed home with the sleeping babies, while Robyn & I took the boys to the carnival.  There were sooooo many people at the carnival.  I am really glad that the girls weren't with us.  It would have been so hard to have to hold Vadyn while trying to keep track of GT.  I am not a fan of crowds.  I was freaking.  (Could you tell, Robyn?)  I've decided that next year, I'm going to put on a little carnival/egg hunt/spring time fun for our friends/families kids the Saturday before Easter at our house.  That way, we won't have to fight the crowd - and we'll have a lot more fun, anyway!!! (If I do say so myself.)

I promise the sun was shining that day...
(...at least it was at my house...)

Cooper & GT - good buddies  :-)
We went to church Saturday evening, since we knew that Sunday was going to be filled with the trip that we had planned to Illinois for Easter...

Vadyn ready for church
Saturday night, after Vadyn went to sleep is when I broke loose with all of my actual Easter day prep...I know...I know...procrastinator, right here...although thinking about it now, I don't know if I would have started any sooner, because things ended up working out great...even if I was up until 3 a.m....
First up, Resurrection Rolls
The marshmallow represents Jesus' body being placed in the tomb

Such a great helper!!

The marshmallow disappeared!!  Just like Jesus' body was gone Easter morning...

GT was too freaked out to eat it.

Then it was time to dye Eggs!!

Look who joined in the fun!!

The finished product
Before going to bed Saturday night, GT put out the empty baskets for the Easter Bunny...

...and then on Easter morning, the kids woke up to them filled with surprises!!!

Look Mom!  A Ring Pop...and marshmallow CUPCAKES!!
After discovering what was in their baskets, the kids headed outside for our very first Easter Egg Hunt at our house...

After we wrapped up the Easter Egg Hunt and got our "stuff" together, we headed over to Illinois to spend the day with my mom's side of our family.  My Aunt Susie hosted Easter, as well as a Confirmation party for my youngest cousin, Alan.  Since there are sooooo many pictures - I'll be posting about that another day!!  I'm sure you are all ready to check out by now...

....but I did want to share a few of my favorite shots from our afternoon...

Uh....

  1. Looks like ya'll had a great Easter!! I noticed in one picture your son wearing a superman t-shirt and then your husband with a batman t-shirt. It reminded me so much of my husband and my son. We are big super hero fans over here.

    1. I HIGHLY recommend the resurrection roll activity. They were simpler than the cookie recipe I found (which is perfect for his age)...I think next year will be perfect for you to do this with your girls...it's quick and easy and to the point!! Plus - you can read scripture to go with each part in the activity which I thought was REALLY cool!
