So...what have we been up to in the last week, you ask?!?...Maybe you didn't ask, but I wanted to update anyway. Here goes:
Saturday - Gordon had to work all day, which is a GOOD thing in our household. The man LOVES to work...and in our industry, Heating & Cooling, some times are busier than others. Needless to say, we like the busy times. That means $$!! So...while Gordon worked, the kids and I enjoyed a lazy day at home. Saturday night we enjoyed dinner with my in-laws. It was our last visit before they head up to Chicago this week to see our nephew Justin Paul's show, A Christmas Story! The Musical. Don't even get me started on how sick I am that we are not able to go, but...that's just the way the cookie crumbles. That kind of stuff takes money. Believe me when I say that I am there in spirit. After we got home from dinner and put the kids to bed, Gordon & I watched the Republican Presidential debate that we had recorded and were thoroughly entertained!! Wow! Was the crap flying!! I could spend a whole blog post on just that debate!!

| If you are anywhere near Chicago this weekend, and you do not have tickets to this show... ...you should be ashamed of yourself. Just sayin'. |
Sunday - Gordon had to work again today...I headed off with the kids to my hometown, Red Bud, Illinois for a birthday party for my nieces and nephew. (Step-nieces and nephew to clarify - no, my sisters, Stephanie & Leslie haven't had any babies for me to be Auntie to YET) The birthday/bowling party (or 'bowling pin party' as GT called it) was at The "V" in Red Bud. I've spent a lot of time in this building in my lifetime, as my dad managed the bowling alley more than once. I know the place like the back of my hand. No joke. The party was great. My stepsister, Michelle, did a great job putting the party together for her three kids. She has a son, Kyle, who turned 6, and twin girls, Lily & Morgan, who are turning 4. Brilliant idea to have the parties together! Get it all done in one day!! : ) As I beginning to say, we were having a great time at the party - until - GT dropped a bowling ball on his finger. Bummer. BIG TIME BUMMER. It hurt him. A lot!!! We ended up having to leave the party early because of his injury.

Wednesday - I was headed back to work. This time with both kiddos! It's so great that my employer allows me the flexibility to take the kids to work with me. It helps that my children are very well behaved (most of the time) and we haven't run into any problems with that so far. Most of the time when Vadyn is with me, she just sleeps anyway. Wednesday night we had the most delicious steaks for dinner (Thank you, Wanda) and then wrapped up the night watching a movie after putting the kids to bed. Also today, I had to get a new splint for GT because he chewed the other one to pieces. Have I mentioned that my child is part beaver? I'm hoping he leaves this one alone...what do you think the chances are???
| Do you see the look on his face?!?! |
And here we are back at Friday - see how that works? : ) I had to work today...the kids stayed at home with Gordon. This weekend we've got BIG plans to celebrate Christmas with my family (well, my mom & sisters) on Sunday. I am really looking forward to it. We have had a very eventful year in our family...my m om got divorced, I had a baby, my little sister, Leslie, got married & my older sister, Stephanie ran a marathon...let's hope 2012 is a little less eventful!! The only bummer about Sunday is that Gordon won't be able to join us. He's working again all weekend. Duty calls. Sometimes at the worst of times.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! I've got a 'laundry list' of things that need to be completed...pun intended, as I have plenty of laundry to do, too!!
XO,
Melissa <3
